On behalf of the Partners of the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research, the Health Research Council of New Zealand has pleasure in releasing the Call for Applications for theNinth Global Forum on Bioethics in Research (GFBR9) which is being held in Auckland, New Zealand on the 3, 4 and 5 December 2008. The Global Forum on Bioethics in Research (GFBR) is an informal partnership established by a number of organizations with a shared interest in the ethics of conducting research involving human beings in developing countries. The Forum meets approximately annually, with an emphasis on discussion.
The theme for GFBR9 is Ethics of research involving indigenous peoples and vulnerable populations.
Full funding will be available to sponsor delegates from developing/transitional countries. Applicants from other countries are welcome to apply if they are able to self-fund their attendance. Part-funding may also be available to some delegates. The aim is to have a balance of delegates from all parts of the world, with a majority of sponsored delegates.
Details about GFBR9 are included in the Call for Applications, which is attached together with the application form. Further information about GFBR9 and the Partners of the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research can be found on http://GFBR9.hrc.govt.nz.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could please distribute this information as widely as possible to groups who may have a particular interest in, and get benefit from, attending GFBR9.
Applications to attend GFBR9 (from those seeking full sponsorship, and those who can self-fund their attendance) are to be received by 1 May 2008.
